When I first started playing in Madison I was lucky and really didn't know it.I was playing people that were for the most part better players than I.When that is the case you learn to be careful where you leave the other guy,otherwise he might run out on you.
I don't play as defensive as I used too,but its never far from my mind and my train of thought on where the cue ball is going after each shot.Number one thought is position for the next shot and number two is keeping my shot progression going till its the final ball and a win.When you get out of line and the shot is marginal then defense should come to the front of your thinking.
So in closing first make the shot and then let the rest of this follow.Your plan stops when the ball is not finding the pocket.Keep shooting and good luck.
